Photo 365: Day 96 – Kaleidoscope Tulip
Here is a capture of Kaleidoscope Tulip that had bloomed in our front yard.
I wasn’t ready for acrobatics this evening (read that as I wasn’t ready to bend to capture this in its natural setting) as this was on a spot close to the garage door and other bushes. Further it was real windy this evening. So had it clipped and shot this indoor with a backdrop.
To make this composition interesting, I decided to add a leaf – further my wife felt the tulip was lonely 😉
Interesting, Sasi. Wonder what was your thinking about leaving the jar it was in.
Judy,
Initially I tried cropping out the jar and didn’t like the composition. Hence had to leave it in the picture.

I like the color and balance. What did you use as your backdrop?
James,
I used a Dollar store bought black cardboard for backdrop. Since I exposed it for 1/5s, it came out bit washed out. Was able to tune black look black in Adobe RAW editor.

Beautiful…I like the jar (and the tip for the black cardboard!).
Good idea. I’ll pick up some black cardboard next time I’m out. Thanks.
I love the purple and the details in all the tiny veins of colour in the petals and the leaf – good call by your wife on that one. The light on the jar is nice and its inclusion grounds the composition.
Beautiful click!
