Photo 365: Day 333 – New toy
Another portrait for my Photo 365 project.
My 3yr old was in a good mood this evening and he didn’t mind me taking his portraits – may be because he was checking out his new laptop toy…

You have seen 2 little froggies couple of days ago…and here are three little froggies.
You may call this as a sequel or The Return of the froggies 😉
Had this shot couple of days ago when there was plenty of sunshine around and when I had more time.
Another rainy day here in St. Louis. By the time I got home this evening after sitting in rain/traffic, there wasn’t any natural light for my daily shoot.
So thought I will shoot something to depict the weather here – that’s how I ended up with this rainy day symmetry.
As I had left my umbrella in the garage to dry out, I noticed the interesting color/pattern formed by the garage light falling through the umbrella. Had this shot with 50mm @f/1.4 for 1/25th sec exposure.
It’s one of those days with not much inspiration. Have you ever felt while browsing the endless internet that You’ve reached the end of the internet?
That’s the kind of the day this was – I had the feel, that I had nothing else to shoot. With my 60mm macro attached to D70, I was aimlessly shooting and then I came across this Hand Mixer Turbo Beater accessory in the kitchen (that’s my primary shooting area) and thought I should do a macro shot.
Then had this shot by sitting it on a plastic green cup…so I guess I did alright for day: 330
Just 30+ days more to go on this project….may be I should start a countdown 😉
Realized I haven’t done a portrait post in a while.
Finding a subject for my shoot was a bit tough this morning. I couldn’t have my 3yr old boy to stay in one place and my daughter wouldn’t pose – she got my gene that takes comfort in staying behind the camera 🙂
So I had to convince her that I will use the technique of selective focusing to put her out of focus…No I didn’t say that. I think that’s a bit too much for a 7yr old. I just told her that she won’t be in the picture…call me a liar!
Anyway, I like the way this turned out. Now I need to go convince her before she see’s this post 😉
Another food related shot for my 365 project…
Whenever there is a feast there are leftovers and we ended up with Leftovers Panini for brunch. We had roasted vegetables (the good stuff) from yesterday and a quick warming, then on the stove top grill in-between wheat bread with cheese did the trick.
Thought I will throw in the grill and cast iron press in the background for this food shot.
My daughter was there to help me this morning by holding a white plate to fill in the shadows…by the end of the shoot, she said “I don’t like being a photo helper but rather be a gal behind the camera”.
I guess another young photog in the offing 😉
I’m so stuffed…Later!
It is a rainy day here in St. Louis and I shot this rainy day bokeh shot early this morning in the Metro station as I was waiting for my train to arrive.
I thought the bokeh formed by street light and water drops on the windshield was interesting.
I know technically there are things in this shot that doesn’t follow photographic rules…but for the sheer fun of bokeh, I thought I should post it for day:326
Happy Thanksgiving folks..enjoy your turkey or tofurkey (if you’re a vegan)!
Today’s daily shoot assignment: Go white on white today. Make a photograph of a white subject on a white background.
Decided to try daily shoot assignment this evening as I hadn’t made my shot until 9:00 PM and I was running out of ideas. So glanced over DPS assignment and it looked very interesting. What popped my mind was, an egg on a white cardboard.
Shot this under kitchen/CFL lighting. To bring out the texture and highlight the shadows, shot this @f/11 for a 2sec exposure.
Will have to wait and see what tomorrow brings 😉
Turkey pepperoni (pizza) on French Bread…that’s for dinner tonight.
And…it turned out really good with just a little effort 😉
