Photo 365: Day 239 – TDS: Something cold

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph of something cold today. Ice cubes, frosty beverages, or the freezer aisle at the grocery store.

Another lazy Sunday – nothing accomplished (besides daughter’s school work) and not feeling guilty about it 😉

Just after lunch, my 2yr old went for his ice cream cone treat and I thought I will make few shots with TDS:Cold assignment in mind. Shot few pictures with Nikon 50mm @f/1.4  with focus set on the ice cream cone. As you might have experienced it’s hard taking picture of a 2yr old – they are full of energy and definitely f/1.4 helps a tad bit.

Out of 25+ shots I fired, I liked this one a lot.

Photo 365: Day 238 -TDS:Repetition

Todays daily shoot assignment: Use repetition to create an interesting photograph today. Grids, patterns, or a series of lines will all do the trick.

We are not a big fan of store bought yogurt. We prefer homemade yogurt over store bought yogurt. But my wife had volunteered to prepare food made of yogurt for a picnic this afternoon and I did some grocery shopping this morning and these yogurt tubs were among them.

These were perfect for TDS:repetition assignment.

There is one more picture post for TDS:Repetition assignment.

Photo 365: Day 237 – TDS:Metallic

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph of something metallic today. Put the emphasis on texture and light.

Metallic…How about faucet? Turns out these faucets are non-metallic – I figured out after shooting this for TDS assignment. But decided to go with this shot 😉

I wasn’t really planning on a self-portrait – hence, want to stay away from this shinny faucet so that I don’t end up shooting a reflection of me and ending up with a selfi.

Had this shot with Sigma 150mm and used circular polarizer filter to eliminate glare.

Those smudges underneath the faucet – blame it on me…I did a poor job of fixing/plumbing this faucet 😉

Photo 365: Day 236 – TDS: Soft light

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph with soft light today. Try to almost totally eliminate shadows on your subject.

I had some vacation time to burn and took couple of days-off from work – hence the early post for my 365 project.

It’s been quite some time now since I last posted a food themed photo shot. Further I cooked yellow curry tofu with home grown hot peppers for lunch. Hence decided to combine TDS: soft light assignment with food theme  for todays shoot.

To bring a “soft” effect, used soft-focus filter – I think I bought this filter about 8+ years ago on ebay and have used it few times now in my 365 project. Had this shot with 50mm @f/1.8 using natural window lighting.

Photo 365: Day 235 – TDS: Tool

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photo of a tool today. Screwdriver. Pliers. Computer. What’s the tool you find most important on a daily basis?

When I saw this TDS: Tool assignment this AM, what came to mind was my 5+ year old amazon.com bought, $10.00 swiss army knife 😉

I find it useful in one way or the other (although not everyday) and is real versatile tool that goes with me everywhere.

The challenge was how do I shoot it to make it look interesting. So had it rest against a cut kiwi fruit to bring in more color to this composition.

Photo 365: Day 234 – TDS: Low Key

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a low key photo today with lots of dark areas. You might need to use exposure compensation to make it work.

Didn’t get to shoot for todays photo post until about 9:00 PM this evening. School season has started here and we have gotten busy with my daughter’s outside school activities.

So when I got settled in for shooting, I started racking my brain on what to shoot for TDS: Low Key assignment 😉

I was looking for a subject with lot of black areas and as I was already in the kitchen, I happen to notice the dishwasher which had the door opened. Bingo – found my subject. It’s the dishes in the dishwasher with the lower rack pulled in to make it a low key spot.

Had this shot with Nikon 50mm prime @f/8 for 2sec exposure.

Photo 365: Day 233 – TDS: 5

Todays daily shoot assignment: Today’s number is 5. Make a photo that illustrates the number in some way, either literally or abstractly.

While cleaning up the basement couple of weeks ago I found these cool colored rocks in a ziplock bag. I am guessing my daughter had collected these at some point 😉

I have been wanting to shoot these rocks for my 365 project. So when I saw this TDS: 5 assignment early this AM, I made my mind to shoot this for todays photo post.

Due to its shinny surface, I had a hard time setting these rock atop one another. A little bit “putty” magic did the trick.

Shot this using Nikkor 60mm macro lens using natural window lighting.

Photo 365: Day 232 – Papaya

Not much inspiration for TDS assignment this evening 🙁

I had few try outs this evening with TDS: glass theme – but none of ’em turned out to my likeliness. So asked suggestion from my wife and she thought may be I should try out with papaya fruit that we had got from international grocery store yesterday.

So todays subject for my 365 project is Papaya 😉

Shot this using natural window lighting. Used 50mm Nikon prime @f5.6 for this shot.

There is one my photo post for day 232 – Papaya seeds: macro.

Macro shot of papaya seeds.

Used Sigma 150mm macro lens @f/5.6 for this macro shot.
