Photo 365: Day 36 – Golden Tassel
Here is a picture of golden tassel on our console lamp shade. I kind of like the shadows in the background as it gives a depth to the capture.

Dried roses – these were dried by my wife long time ago (may be about 8 years ago). I remember researching for her on drying them back then.
These were real flaky and had to be handled with extreme care for picturing them. I really liked the way the pictures turned out for today’s post.

Here are my kiddos watching Berenstain Bears on PBS. They love the show. In fact, its a good show for the kids.
Used Nikon 50mm prime to capture in RAW and later changed it to sepia effect in Picasa.
No it wasn’t a McD’s night 😉
Had to run errands tonight and saw this McD’s across the highway. As I carry my P&S Fuji F30 these days, I was able to capture this using spot metering.
Used 50mm prime to capture the light falling on the flower curtain. Shot this in raw and later converted to B&W in CS4.
Here is a happy meal toy (I believe it came from Subway) that my daughter had with her toys collection.
I like taking pictures in natural lighting and it was a bit tricky taking this with limited lighting this evening – it was an overcast day and had to take this when I got back from work when the Sun was getting ready to set. If you look closer at her face (towards right), you’ll see its underexposed. Tried the shutter to remain open for about a second, but the other half turned overexposed. Finally settled with the above capture – though I kind of like this capture 😉
Sunday is a baking day for us. Our daughter started going to school last year and we bake most of our snacks/bread at home on Sunday. Followed this easy to follow recipe from Baker’s Banter blog – we made it tad healthier by adding in oat bran, cranberries and flax meal.
The other day when cleaning up my garage I came across this dead Mexican bean beetle. Had this stored in a ziploc bag for a macro capture and had this shot using my Nikkor 60mm macro for today’s post. Earlier I tried capturing this with reverse mount BR-2A/28mm prime but didn’t workout very well.
That’s breakfast cereals in our pantry. I had something else in mind for today’s post, but got the idea to picture the cereals at the 11th hour 🙂
We love cereal at our home – its cheap and tastes good. Got Milk?
From left to right:
Bob’s thick cut oats – these are the best that I’ve tasted. Tastes great both in Bircher Muesli and as porridge. Also great for home made granola.
Kix – that’s my daughters snack.
Mini wheat – not really a healthy kind but when you got that sugar craving, can’t beat mini wheat and cold milk.
Cheerios – that’s my kiddos snack.
Wheetabix – Got introduced to Wheetabix by a friend who came from the UK. Tastes great with cold milk and a hint of sugar.
Steel cut oats – one of my other favorites. Takes a little bit of time to make porridge out of this, but its worth waiting.
