Photo 365: Day 158 – Split

Fun photo post for  day 158.

That’s the picture of our living room and entry room separated by a wall. I might have gotten this idea for this post over the weekend or so. Upon trying to execute this, this evening I found it a bit harder than I had imagined.

Now these are 2 different rooms one lit by the windows facing south and the other room has light coming in from windows on the North. So properly exposing this a bit of challenge – went all manual for this shot after trial and error with the lighting. Now composing this was another challenge by itself – as I had shot this from the entry way and had the camera mounted on the tripod, there wasn’t much room for me to stand behind the camera. So had it manually focused on the wall and shot this at f/10 at 5sec exposure.

Now only if I had a fish eye lens, to make this a nice shot 😉

Photo 365: Day 157: Creve Coeur Lake

I took this photo during my visit to the Creve Coeur Lake yesterday. As the Sun had just set and everyone were leaving the lake, I found this kid still fishing. It worked for my today’s photo post – today is an exception as I normally don’t like posting picture(s) from earlier days 😉

Photo 365: Day 156: Dew on cobweb

While cleaning up my yard this morning I noticed these dew on cobweb. Shooting this turned out to be a bit of a challenge as this was atop mowed grass and was almost close to the ground. So I used my gorillapod to balance my camera and shot this in shutter priority.

Photo 365: Day 155 – Dusk

I have been wanting to use my zoom lens for my 365 project and this evening decided to shoot with Sigma 17-70mm.

We have a library close home and by 7:30 PM on Fridays no one is there as the library closes early then – the library happens to be in a place that is a bit elevated and is a good spot for taking pictures. So went there this evening to capture some colors/clouds at dusk. It turned out pretty good.

I should try using my zoom lens more often.

Photo 365: Day 154 – Trio Cherries

For today’s post I simply want to shoot cherries. So had these trio cherries sit a white foam board board, used spot metering and took the metering of the cherry in the front. Then had it manually adjusted and shot this in RAW. I had to do a little ‘pop’ action in CS4 to bring out the colors.

Photo 365: Day 153 – Layers

No it’s not Photoshop layers that we all photographers know…LOL

My daughter has this Melissa & Doug easel and it has a spindle where the paper rolls sits. I think it might have been quite some time now since she has last used the paper for drawing and the paper roll has started curling.

As I noticed the paper curl last week, I thought it could be shot for an interesting abstract photo post.

So this evening I had to get underneath the easel to take this shot. As it was relatively darker beneath the easel, I had to bump up the ISO to 800 – hence the grain….here’s where D70 fails 🙁

But I am quite satisfied with today’s photo post.

Photo 365: Day 152 – Soft focus

For today’s photo post(s) I used a soft focus filter to create a dream-like effect on these cherries. As it was too bright and I didn’t have a neutral density filter to bring down the light, used a polarizer filer – as I know it brings down the light by 2 f:stops. Had to use a white reflector board to lighten up the shadows.

Photo 365: Day 152 – Soft focus

I got the idea for this post from a cover image on Cooks Illustrated magazine. Used a soft focus filter combined with polarizer filter to create this shot.

Photo 365: Day 151 – Hardware: Printed circuit board

Day 151: 1/3

I was cleaning up my closet this noon and found bunch of computer hardware stuff that I don’t need anymore. As I was snapping pictures for selling them, I found some interesting patterns on these.

That’s a snapshot of a printed circuit board on a hard-drive. I found the colors and the imprints to be interesting.

Day 151: 2/3

That’s an old IDE hardrive that I had bought for an old desktop PC. This hard-drive never got into the bay 😉

I found this interesting pattern on the hardrive’s back – I am not a hardware design engineer but I am guessing it has something to do with dissipating the heat(?)
