Photo 365: Day 75 – Harmony

These were the toys my daughter used to play when she was 3yr old – these were from wooden doll house collection. I got the idea for today’s post, from my 2yr old who was playing with these last evening. I just lined them all together for this capture.

They are all seem to be happy and in Harmony 🙂

Photo 365: Day 74 – Symmetry

Here is my another last minute try out…Usually I like taking pictures when I get back from work when there is sufficient light. It was such a busy day (blame it on the time change), I had to scramble for ideas until the last moment 😉

We have this colorful umbrella and my 2 year old was playing with this over the past weekend. I kind of know that it could be a subject for someday. As I was racking my brain on how to make this as a subject for today’s post, I saw the symmetry (of triangles) when I opened up the umbrella. So had to set my camera with 50mm prime on the tripod and shot this with 5sec exposure and f/11 aperture. I really liked the way it turned out.

I have to say, life is made of math & science 😉

Photo 365: Day 73 -Veggies, good for ya

Sunday is a busy day for us. It’s the day we cook, and bake for the week ahead.

We cooked hearty veggies/bean soup for the week ahead and took few pictures while prepping for the soup. Its quite an easy recipe to follow – dice all the veggies, throw them in a cast iron pot with seasoning, & chicken stock and let it simmer. It’s good for ya 😉

Photo 365: Day 73 – Sweet Bell Pepper

Another bonus picture for day 73 😉

Took a picture of this sweet red bell pepper before dicing it for hearty vegetable soup.

Photo 365: Day 73 – Jalapeno

Another bonus picture for day 73 😉

Took a picture of this mildly spicy Jalapeno before dicing it for hearty vegetable soup.

Photo 365: Day 72 – Portabella

It’s our grocery shopping day 😉

Bought these portabella mushroom caps for grilling and took few pictures of portabella gills this afternoon. Used Nikkor 60mm macro to capture these. I really like the way these turned out – these gills looks like soft pillows 😉

Photo 365: Day 71 – It’s Science Friday

It’s Science Friday – and I did go to the live show at St. Louis Science Center. It was a good show.

Today’s topics were – Genetically modified crops, cave science, and green building. GM crops was quite an interesting/hot topic. It lasted for an hour followed by the other two. You can read/hear the transcripts from today’s live show here.

I took my Fuji F30 P&S camera for this event and took most of the pictures using “spot” metering.

Photo 365: Day 70 – Is it Friday yet?

I am a long time listener of NPR radio and I regularly listen to Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation on weekdays and Science Friday on Fridays. About a month or so, I got an email about Science Friday being hosted in St. Louis Science Center by Ira Flatow. I was delighted and immediately signed up. Really lucky enough to get a free ticket to watch the live show tomorrow…so “Is it Friday yet?”

Photo 365:Day 69 – Two Froggies

Ah it’s another one of those days….

Didn’t get to decide on the subject for today’s post until the last moment and by the time I decided to take a picture of these accent froggies, Sun has gone down already…so has to settle on capturing these with the aid of flash lighting.

Took couple of picture of froggies with their cute face looking at the camera and felt they were quite boring to my taste. So have to seat them such that they were looking away from the camera…I kind of like it. Seems like these froggies are wondering – ‘where did the Sun go?’ 😉

Photo 365: Day 68 – I like Panda; Give me Panda!

Recently purchased soft Panda licorice from Trader Joes. Unlike the mainstream Twizzler, these are soft, made of real licorice root juice and sweetened using molasses (yay no HFCS). Anyway – the very first time my 2 year old boy tried, it was rejected immediately without further consumption. Surly it’s an acquired taste and I don’t blame him.

Then past Sunday, he was standing by the pantry, pointing at the licorice box and was wanting to have some – he sure does have a sweet tooth (I guess it’s in the gene). Few minutes later, he comes back and tells me – “I like Panda. Give me Panda!”. May be I should send him over to China 🙂
