Photo 365: Day 67 – Sharpened pencils for my sharp little girl

As I was thinking about a subject for my today’s photo post this evening, I saw these sharpened pencils (my wife does a good job of keeping these organized) and my daughter doing her home work. I want to capture the mood of my daughter working on her home work along with these sharpened pencils. What came to my mind immediately was a ‘bokeh’ capture. Used 50mm prime this evening for this capture.

Its my daughter giving a quizzical look at the far end. She sure is my sharp little girl 😉

Photo 365: Day 66 – Iris in full bloom

Here is a capture of Iris in full bloom.

I had something else in mind for today’s post with the Iris before landing on this bloomed Iris. Originally I want to capture a macro with the Iris petals but found the petals were already starting to curl – sign of aging I guess 😉 So captured this full bloom with Nikon 50mm prime.

My wife was assisting with holding up the backdrop – so its a team effort for today’s post 😉

Photo 365: Day 65 – Iris again

Here is a picture of Iris (again) which is just about ready to bloom.

  • Shot this as RAW and later tweaked just a bit in Adobe RAW.

Photo 365: Day 64 – Iris

I was pleasantly surprised to see Iris bouquet at Costco today 😉 I love taking floral pictures and bought a bouquet  this evening.

Photo 365: Day 63 – Window Blinds

As I was having my dinner this evening, I saw the westward sunlight creeping through the window blinds. Shot the light/blinds using 50mm prime and later modified the color/tone using PS actions.

Photo 365: Day 62 – Bunch of Keys

I had to pick my daughter from her class this evening and as I was waiting for her, I took the picture of my key bunch with Fuji P&S F30. Later this evening I was able to give it a soft/faded feel using the CS4 action set that I had downloaded from Pioneer Woman Blog.

So kudos to Pioneer Woman for making the action set freely available for download.

Photo 365: Day 61 – Silhouette

Contrary to yesterday’s post, today’s photo post is not a cheerful/colorful one.

Did some experimentation with lighting this evening to capture this silhouette of netting on the screen door. Focused the camera at the netting towards the bright clouds/sky. Used manual mode and slightly overexposed to wash out netting that were out of focus. As I used 60mm macro with shallow depth of field, all the netting towards the far right and left appears almost washed out.

Later used Adobe RAW to add contrast. I kind of like it 😉

Photo 365: Day 60 – Fruit Loops

It was rather a cloudy, gloomy day this evening and I was looking for a colorful subject for today’s post. Rummaging our pantry,  I found this box of dyed cheerios (a.k.a Fruit Loops) – we are not big fan of cereal fortified with HFCS at our house 😉

Anyway, stacked these up and took the picture with 1sec exposure. And for the backdrop used the cereal box – nice bokeh here 😉

Photo 365: Day 59 – Chicken Noodle Soup

We had a chance to try out Chicken Noodle Soup recipe from ‘The Pioneer Woman’ blog today.

Turned out really good. But I have to admit, it took about 4+ hours from start to finish and we have about 15+ servings of soup in the freezer 😉

Will definitely try this again…

Photo 365: Day 58 – Decorated Horse

My wife has been wanting me to take the picture of this decorated horse for quite some time and thought I should give it a try this noon. Used 50mm prime to capture this in natural lighting. To bring out the golden artwork, seated this on a black board and exposed for 1/3s.
