Photo 365: Day 48 – YKK

Ever wondered what YKK in the zipper means? Almost all zippers have YKK imprinted on them.
Well the other day I read an interesting blog post (thanks to Google Reader’s recommended items) on YKK. If you guessed YKK is the name of the company that makes zippers, you guessed it right. You would be surprised YKK is based in Japan & not in China 😉 YKK stands for Yoshida Kogyo Co., and this company is famous for manufacturing zippers besides other products. Here is the wiki entry for YKK.

I had the picture taken this evening as I was waiting for my daughter to return back from her class. It was a nice day outside and she had left her coat in the car. As I was contemplating on what to picture tonight for my Photo 365 project, I saw her coat and liked the way the zipper was painted to go with her pink coat.

Took this with my travel Point & Shoot Fuji F30 using spot metering – as I was relaying on the sunlight coming through the car’s window. Not too bad for a Point & Shoot camera 😉

Photo 365: Day 47 – Tulip macro

Another tulip picture?

I know…I need to move on 😉
I just love the explosion of colors here.

Photo 365: Day 46 – Abe Lincoln

Here is a picture of Abraham Lincoln on a penny coin to commemorate President’s day.

I totally had something else in mind for today’s post. But had to change my mind at the last moment as by the time I got home and got settled to take picture it was too late to capture anything just with natural lighting.

So I took this old penny from loose change and used little Brasso and elbow grease to make the penny shine a bit. Then had the penny sit on a book on the window sill and shot this in manual setting using Nikkor 60mm macro lens.

Photo 365: Day 45 – Tulip again

Here is a picture of a tulip beginning to bloom. I want to capture the picture of tulip in a different view/composition and with the tulip beginning to bloom, I thought I should try picturing it looking top down. It was snowing outside, and had the tulip vase close to the window and pictured this with the plenty of light reflecting from the snow outside the window.

It turned out really good.

Photo 365: Day 44 – Tulips

Ah Tulips…who doesn’t like them. Bought these at Costco yesterday (I believe these were from Canada), and took pictures of tulips this noon using natural lighting. I really like the way these turned out 😉

Photo 365: Day 43 – Diptych

Had to go to Costco on my way from work this evening and bought a box of  ‘sin free’ Sofella Brownie mix – though to me sin free means veggies/fruits 😉 Anyway, got home and we baked these petite brownies – yeah we got Valentine in our home. These turned really good and mixing/baking was easy as well. You just need to add yogurt to the mix, mix it,  and bake it.

I started taking pictures of these brownies and also took a picture of the girls in the box as I already had the idea of diptych in my mind set for today’s photo post. I thought the picture turned out OK to my taste.

Photo 365: Day 42 – Kisses

We had some Hersey’s kisses in our candy jar and my wife arranged them for me in a heart pattern.
Other than that, I think I am getting bored with this Valentine’s theme 😉

Photo 365: Day 41 – Valentine’s Day Cards Collage

As my daughter was signing her Valentine’s day cards for her class friends, I thought this might be perfect post for today’s photo post with Valentine’s day theme.

Took pictures using D70/Sigma 17-70mm zoom lens and later used Picasa to make these pictures as a collage.
