Photo 365: Day 202 – TDS: Refreshing drink

Today’s daily shoot assignment: It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Make a photo of a cool, refreshing drink. Go for something creative.

When I think about refreshing drink, what comes to my mind is Peanut butter banana smoothie.

I picked this recipe couple of weeks ago from Cheap Healthy Good blog (readers comments) and I should admit it’s an addiction – in a good way. This smoothie is packed with nutrition (peanut butter, banana, nutella, soy milk, & wheat germ) and calories too. But I don’t feel hungry for few hours after enjoying this velvety smoothie 😉

For this shoot, used Sigma 150mm macro lens. Used couple of white foam boards to fill in dark areas and shot this under natural lighting from the windows.

Photo 365: Day 201: Change in texture

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph that emphasizes a change in texture: smooth/rough, soft/hard, shiny/dull, etc.

Decided to shoot my daughter’s (old) faux straw bag for this assignment as I like the twist & turn pattern and really like the texture on this.

Photo 365: Day 200 – TDS Assignment: Wrinkled

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Ads promote removing wrinkles, but they often add character. Make a photo of something wrinkled, crinkled, or folded.

When I saw this assignment this AM what came to my mind was the Laughing Buddha – I know he doesn’t mind his wrinkles as he is happy and smiling all the time 🙂

Used the technique I learnt from yesterday’s TDS assignment (dreamy capture) for this shot. Used my Sigma zoom lens and shot this at its wide aperture setting to create sort of dream like effect.

And today is 200th day since I started this Photo 365 project – YAY!

Thanks everyone (that would be you) for visiting my blog post and taking time to add your wonderful comments to my blog posts – your comments are real supportive and gives me the inspiration to keep going on this project.

Also, congrats and good luck to my fellow photogs who are on their 200th day of this project as well.

We will keep going, as we are almost there.

Photo 365: Day 199: TDS – Soft & Dreamy

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Sunday Challenge: Compose an image that has a soft and dreamy look today, and make a photograph.

That’s one of our hydrangea bush in our backyard after morning rain. I think rain brings our beauty in blooms and there always seems to be a color pop in the garden just after rain.

When I saw the assignment this AM, I knew I want to use soft focus filter to create the dreamy effect. With rain this AM, things worked out pretty well for this assignment shoot. I stacked soft-focus filter over UV filter for this shot.

I really like the way this shot turned out. With dark areas in the bush, I feel there is a wonderful depth and sharpness on the leaves – despite using soft focus filter.

Photo 365: Day 197 – TDS Assignment – Food

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Everyone loves food photos! Make a close-up photograph of food you’re enjoying on a Friday. Arrange for good lighting.

Broiled shrimp – that’s for dinner 🙂
Used couple of white boards to fill-in the shadows and used window lighting for shooting this.

Photo 365: Day 196 – Daily Shoot Assignment: Abstraction

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Get creative with abstraction today. Make a photograph of patterns and/or shapes that aren’t recognizable objects.

It’s a pattern but I’m not quite sure if this qualifies for abstraction…

07/16/10:
It’s a stainless steel dish rack by the sink. To give it a abstract feel, had the dish rack sit on a black cardboard and used another black cardboard for background. Used while reflector to make the steel shine 😉

Used Coffee shop’ creamy choc b/w action in PS during PP.

Photo 365: Day 195 – Daily Shoot Assignment – Low point of view

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Make a photo from a low point of view. Go for a dramatic effect by changing the appearance of the size of your subject.

Decided to shoot ‘little people’ again for today’s photo post with low point of view. If you remember, I had shot this for day-132. Back then I had shot this from eye-level using 50mm prime lens.

For this post, got this shot from Noah’s eye level and used Sigma 17-70mm at it’s lower end. To make this composition interesting, placed the boat with animals in the background – it just looks ‘huge’ with low point of view 😉

Photo 365: Day 194 – Daily Shoot Assignment: Corners

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Corners are everywhere. Make a photo of an interesting corner today, capturing its light and angles.

As I was in the quest for interesting corner, I found those ones on our fireplace mantel to be interesting.

I did multiple shots without flash and bounced flash. Later, after downloading found those without shadows (using bounced flash) to be boring and lacking any depth. I know shadows are something that photogs try avoiding in their shots.

But decided to go one with the harsh shadows, as they provide a nice depth that brings out the details on the woodwork on the mantel 😉

Show off your shots…Today is Twitter Tuesday

Photo 365: Day 193: Daily Shoot Assignment – Part of an object

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Focus on a fragment of an object today. Make a photograph that only shows part of an object, not the whole thing.

Photo 365: Day 192 – Daily Shoot Assignment: One color

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Find a scene that’s dominated by one color and make a photograph of it. Use light and shadow to accentuate detail.

When I saw this assignment this morning, what came to my mind of green leaves on our hydrangea bush. But later this morning as I was looking for other interesting things inside our house, I noticed dark shadows and domination of single color on our drapery. So decided to go with the drapery for this assignment.
