w52.5.1: Picket Fence

Had a chance to visit Faust Park in Chesterfield, MO with my son last evening. He was OK with me spending few minutes shooting the historic homes before taking him to the play area.

Will definitely go back to the park for a photo walk 😉

In case you haven’t noticed the tags, I switched to Lightroom 3 – Thanks Nikhil for tips/tricks.

Getting ready...

w52.5: Getting ready…

Getting ready...

My wife was a willing model for this portrait.

Shot this as she was getting ready for a friend’s baby shower party. She was about to be done with her makeup touches and took this shot with her reflection in the vanity mirror.

On a rainy day...

And the spring rain seems to be continuing here in St. Louis. It’s not a downpour but it’s continuous drizzle with a drop in temperature that makes you less productive…but then again, it’s Sunday 😉

Abstract

Now that I’ve posted pictures of muffin in my photo blog umpteen times, want to try a different POV.

As this muffin (in a cupcake liner) was cooling – tilted halfway on a muffin pan, I shot this using Nikkor 60mm macro lens. With window lighting falling on the muffin, it gave a nice bokeh on the muffin top.

Window Blinds

w52.3: Window Blinds

Window Blinds

Shot this on our recent visit to Magic House last Friday. While kids were busy on their hands-on activities, I was able to shoot this window blinds and the lights creeping through the blinds.

And this is SOOC shot – of course I had it converted to JPG from RAW format 😉

Bridging the gap

w52.2.3: Bridging the gap

Bridging the gap

Had a chance to visit The Magic House with the family today. We all had a good time – kids had quite a bit of fun with hands-on activities.

Later this evening as we were getting back to the car, we came across this sculpture and my son was quick enough to run and was trying to bride the gap…I remember him saying, “I can’t”. May be next time when he is a big kiddo, he should be able to bridge the gap.

Of all the shots from our visit, my wife and I loved this shot – liked the way he’s trying hard to fill in and shadows seem to have worked nicely in this shot. So thought I should share it in my blog.

Ants

w52.2.2: Ants

Ants

My daughter had left milk in her cereal bowl this morning and when we got back home this evening, I was presented with this photo opportunity of ants sipping the milk. This scene reminds me of something I watched in National Geographic channel long time ago of animals quenching their thirst in a water hole 😉

Look close and you’ll see the reflection of the ants – gives the feel these little guys are staring at their reflection 😉

Lots of Clover

w52.2: On an uneventful Sunday..

It’s an uneventful Sunday or you could call it a lazy Sunday…it has something to do with this cold weather that makes us relax or be unproductive 😉

While grocery shopping this morning, picked up a box of  Crayola for the kids and my daughter came up with this art work. As I was still debating on what to post for this week’s blog post, I got my attention set on her art work. She was more than happy to get her work photographed.

In case if you’re wondering what’s by the flowers and the tree…she claims it’s a water fountain 😉

On a different note, I got my D70 sensor cleaned. I wasn’t really willing to get this cleaned by a professional for $100.00, so went on a DIY route (based on Nikhil’s suggestion). After blowing the sensor using my rocket blower and wet cleaning, sensor seems quite alright. Thanks Nikhil!

The Unhealthy Truth

w52.1.0: The Unhealthy Truth

The Unhealthy Truth

My wife was a willing model for this shot. Here she is…reading a book we borrowed from the library last evening.

I heard it’s a good book on failing American food system. Definitely sounds like a whip on corporate food industry.

But have to admit – at times, Ignorance is a bliss

There is one another shot for this week.
