My wife has been wanting me to take the picture of this decorated horse for quite some time and thought I should give it a try this noon. Used 50mm prime to capture this in natural lighting. To bring out the golden artwork, seated this on a black board and exposed for 1/3s.
That is a picture of my Fire Cracker plant ready for spring or nice weather so that it could be me moved out.
Currently I have Fire Cracker plant along with Curry leaves plant, and Arabian Jasmine plant in the basement. Though they have survived so far this winter, I could definitely see that these plants are under stress. As seen from the plant leaves, they are deprived of chlorophyll due to insufficient sun light.
I bet, if there were to talk they would grumble “Is it Spring yet?” đ
Had a chance to experiment/play with light this afternoon. As I am pushing myself to make use of my Nikon 50mm prime lens (besides using it for portraits), this afternoon I tried my hands on taking picture of  my alarm clock in natural lighting.
We got this electrical, backlight alarm clock that has seconds hand. For my light experiment, I exposed my camera for 8 seconds exposure and you can see the trails of seconds hand. As you could see just by counting the trails, this was indeed exposed for 8seconds.
Also, try my next capture of the same set-up with different composition and 6 seconds exposure.

Here is my attempt to capture “bokeh” of eggs. Used Nikon 50mm prime @f1.8 to get the above capture.
I may post more bokeh captures in the days to come đ
Here are my kiddos watching Berenstain Bears on PBS. They love the show. In fact, its a good show for the kids.
Used Nikon 50mm prime to capture in RAW and later changed it to sepia effect in Picasa.
Used 50mm prime to capture the light falling on the flower curtain. Shot this in raw and later converted to B&W in CS4.
That’s breakfast cereals in our pantry. I had something else in mind for today’s post, but got the idea to picture the cereals at the 11th hour đ
We love cereal at our home – its cheap and tastes good. Got Milk?
From left to right:
Bob’s thick cut oats – these are the best that I’ve tasted. Tastes great both in Bircher Muesli and as porridge. Also great for home made granola.
Kix – that’s my daughters snack.
Mini wheat – not really a healthy kind but when you got that sugar craving, can’t beat mini wheat and cold milk.
Cheerios – that’s my kiddos snack.
Wheetabix – Got introduced to Wheetabix by a friend who came from the UK. Tastes great with cold milk and a hint of sugar.
Steel cut oats – one of my other favorites. Takes a little bit of time to make porridge out of this, but its worth waiting.
We had this coconut sitting in our counter top for more that a week now ready to be opened/slit. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t spoiled when I had this split open this noon – typically we tend to split coconut as soon as we get it from the store đ
I bought a couple of cheapo project clamp lights from Homedepot store and used it to lit the coconuts. I used my 50mm prime to capture this in full manual mode.
I thought it came out good.
