Photo 365: Day 57 – Is it Spring yet?

That is a picture of my Fire Cracker plant ready for spring or nice weather so that it could be me moved out.

Currently I have Fire Cracker plant along with Curry leaves plant, and Arabian Jasmine plant in the basement. Though they have survived so far this winter, I could definitely see that these plants are under stress. As seen from the plant leaves, they are deprived of chlorophyll due to insufficient sun light.

I bet, if there were to talk they would grumble “Is it Spring yet?” 😉

Photo 365: Day 55 – Artificial Floral Arrangement

Ah its one of those days…didn’t get to decide on what would be the subject for today’s photo post until the last moment (its 9:15 PM already). I try to take most of the pictures with natural lighting and I know my choices for today’s post with natural lighting is next to 0.

We have these cute artificial floral arrangement on out mantel and thought I should try with this and see how it turns out.  Had to take out my trusty SB-600 flash to capture this as I was taking this against a black background and I know if I am to expose this for long exposure, shadows will ruin the picture. I think it turned out OK 😉

Photo 365: Day 54 – Sign of Spring

Upon returning from picking up our mail this evening, I noticed that the Daffodils have started to germinate.

Definitely seems like a sign of spring 😉

Photo 365: Day 53 – Seashells

Today’s post is another macro capture using my Nikkor 60mm lens and the subject is seashells. I keep going back to my Nikkor 60mm macro lens and I never thought I would be  using my 60mm macro this much.

Photo 365: Day 52 – 8 seconds

Had a chance to experiment/play with light this afternoon. As I am pushing myself to make use of my Nikon 50mm prime lens (besides using it for portraits), this afternoon I tried my hands on taking picture of  my alarm clock in natural lighting.

We got this electrical, backlight alarm clock that has seconds hand. For my light experiment, I exposed my camera for 8 seconds exposure and you can see the trails of seconds hand. As you could see just by counting the trails, this was indeed exposed for 8seconds.

Also, try my next capture of the same set-up with different composition and 6 seconds exposure.

Photo 365: Day 52 – 6 seconds

Had a chance to experiment/play with light this afternoon. As I am pushing myself to make use of my Nikon 50mm prime lens (besides using it for portraits), this afternoon I tried my hands on taking picture of  my alarm clock in natural lighting.

We got this electrical, backlight alarm clock that has seconds hand. For my light experiment, I exposed my camera for a 6 seconds exposure and you can see the trails of seconds hand. As you could see just by counting the trails, this was indeed exposed for 6 seconds 😉

Photo 365: Day 51 – Radish bunch

During our grocery shopping this morning, we picked a radish bunch and today’s subject for my Photo project is radish.

Photo 365: Day 49 – Bokeh

Here is my attempt to capture “bokeh” of eggs. Used Nikon 50mm prime @f1.8 to get the above capture.
I may post more bokeh captures in the days to come 😉

Photo 365: Day 47 – Tulip macro

Another tulip picture?

I know…I need to move on 😉
I just love the explosion of colors here.

Photo 365: Day 46 – Abe Lincoln

Here is a picture of Abraham Lincoln on a penny coin to commemorate President’s day.

I totally had something else in mind for today’s post. But had to change my mind at the last moment as by the time I got home and got settled to take picture it was too late to capture anything just with natural lighting.

So I took this old penny from loose change and used little Brasso and elbow grease to make the penny shine a bit. Then had the penny sit on a book on the window sill and shot this in manual setting using Nikkor 60mm macro lens.
