Photo 365: Day 73 – Jalapeno
Another bonus picture for day 73 😉
Took a picture of this mildly spicy Jalapeno before dicing it for hearty vegetable soup.

It’s our grocery shopping day 😉
Bought these portabella mushroom caps for grilling and took few pictures of portabella gills this afternoon. Used Nikkor 60mm macro to capture these. I really like the way these turned out – these gills looks like soft pillows 😉
It’s Science Friday – and I did go to the live show at St. Louis Science Center. It was a good show.
Today’s topics were – Genetically modified crops, cave science, and green building. GM crops was quite an interesting/hot topic. It lasted for an hour followed by the other two. You can read/hear the transcripts from today’s live show here.
I took my Fuji F30 P&S camera for this event and took most of the pictures using “spot” metering.
I am a long time listener of NPR radio and I regularly listen to Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation on weekdays and Science Friday on Fridays. About a month or so, I got an email about Science Friday being hosted in St. Louis Science Center by Ira Flatow. I was delighted and immediately signed up. Really lucky enough to get a free ticket to watch the live show tomorrow…so “Is it Friday yet?”
Ah it’s another one of those days….
Didn’t get to decide on the subject for today’s post until the last moment and by the time I decided to take a picture of these accent froggies, Sun has gone down already…so has to settle on capturing these with the aid of flash lighting.
Took couple of picture of froggies with their cute face looking at the camera and felt they were quite boring to my taste. So have to seat them such that they were looking away from the camera…I kind of like it. Seems like these froggies are wondering – ‘where did the Sun go?’ 😉
Recently purchased soft Panda licorice from Trader Joes. Unlike the mainstream Twizzler, these are soft, made of real licorice root juice and sweetened using molasses (yay no HFCS). Anyway – the very first time my 2 year old boy tried, it was rejected immediately without further consumption. Surly it’s an acquired taste and I don’t blame him.
Then past Sunday, he was standing by the pantry, pointing at the licorice box and was wanting to have some – he sure does have a sweet tooth (I guess it’s in the gene). Few minutes later, he comes back and tells me – “I like Panda. Give me Panda!”. May be I should send him over to China 🙂
As I was thinking about a subject for my today’s photo post this evening, I saw these sharpened pencils (my wife does a good job of keeping these organized) and my daughter doing her home work. I want to capture the mood of my daughter working on her home work along with these sharpened pencils. What came to my mind immediately was a ‘bokeh’ capture. Used 50mm prime this evening for this capture.
Its my daughter giving a quizzical look at the far end. She sure is my sharp little girl 😉
Here is a capture of Iris in full bloom.
I had something else in mind for today’s post with the Iris before landing on this bloomed Iris. Originally I want to capture a macro with the Iris petals but found the petals were already starting to curl – sign of aging I guess 😉 So captured this full bloom with Nikon 50mm prime.
My wife was assisting with holding up the backdrop – so its a team effort for today’s post 😉
Here is a picture of Iris (again) which is just about ready to bloom.
As I was having my dinner this evening, I saw the westward sunlight creeping through the window blinds. Shot the light/blinds using 50mm prime and later modified the color/tone using PS actions.
