Here is my attempt to capture a macro shot of matchsticks. Mounted D70 fitted with Nikon 60mm macro lens on a tripod and shot this at f/36 for about 12 sec exposure. Did minimal post processing using Adobe RAW to pop up the colors.
Happy Pongal!!
BTW – Here is wiki entry for Pongal.
One of the frequent visitor to my blogs had suggested me take on a Pongal challenge. So the idea is to take picture of Pongal.
Got home from work, talked to my wife about the challenge. She suggested may be we could plate the pongal on a plantain leaf. That worked really well. I like the contrast in colors and looks more traditional as well.
As I was looking around our living room for subject for today’s photo project, I noticed our spray bottle on the ironing board. Water had evaporated inside the spray bottle and collected atop the water surface. I used my 60mm Nikon macro lens to capture this beauty and shot this in full manual mode.
Our daughter started her school this year and she’s quite a writer ๐
I was going through her school folder and thought this was interesting. I like how she has drawn her bike and characters in her little writeup.
It was a bit challenging to take the picture ofย her drawing though. My pictures were under exposed due to white back ground – so had to increase the exposure by 1 full stop in post processing. Other challenge was taking the picture itself. I had the camera mounted on my Manfrotto tripod and had it set up such a way that the center column was parallel to the floor – so the camera/lens were pointing down at the picture on the floor. I had used my Sigma zoom lens and as the lens was pointing down, the lens barrel started winding down. So I had to use one hand to stop the lens barrel at the desired zoom level and other hand on the tripod to prevent it from tripping over. It was quite a challenge.
Here is a picture of our curry leaves. Luckily they seem to be healthy so far ๐

We picked few navel oranges during our weekly grocery shopping this AM and one of the lucky orange is a subject for my Photo 365 project ๐
Had a chance to visit a friend’s home this afternoon to take pictures of king Bima’s props. His son is taking part in a stage play and this friend of mine had spent countless hours on making these props. They did a wonderful job and I was really delighted to take these pictures.

Had to take my daughter to her Math class tonight. I travel with my trusty point and shoot Fuji F30 these days. Used my F30 to take this picture of snow covered fire hydrant.
