Photo 365: Day 208 – TDS – Six

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Today’s theme is the number 6. Make a photograph of the number six, six objects, or express six in an alternate way.

As I was driving to work this morning I was thinking about TDS assignment and for some reason the movie The Sixth Sense came to my mind. So when I got back from work I checked to see if the movie is available on Netflix’s instant watch and sure it was. So had this queued to my instant watch list for this shot.

Had to be a bit creative with shooting the image on TV, as focusing straight at the monitor produced unwanted lines – so tried shooting it a bit out of focus and also at an angle. I like the second approach as I like the angles and geometrical shapes in this shot.

Shot this using Sigma 17-70mm at it’s wide end @f/11 for 1sec exposure.

Today is Twitter Tuesday.

Photo 365: Day 170 – Reflection

Netflix/Roku – that’s how we relax these days. No live TV or cable for us – although kids like watching PBS on OTA channels 🙂

As I had few minutes to kill this afternoon I was going over other ROKU channels besides Netflix and noticed this reflection on our coffee table. So I had this shot using Nikon 50mm. To get a better reflection of TV on the coffee table, I had to pull down the curtains – hence this was shot @f16 for 30sec exposure. I like the way it turned out.

Those scratches on the coffee table – credit to our kids 😉

Photo 365: Day 157: Creve Coeur Lake

I took this photo during my visit to the Creve Coeur Lake yesterday. As the Sun had just set and everyone were leaving the lake, I found this kid still fishing. It worked for my today’s photo post – today is an exception as I normally don’t like posting picture(s) from earlier days 😉

Photo 365: Day 155 – Dusk

I have been wanting to use my zoom lens for my 365 project and this evening decided to shoot with Sigma 17-70mm.

We have a library close home and by 7:30 PM on Fridays no one is there as the library closes early then – the library happens to be in a place that is a bit elevated and is a good spot for taking pictures. So went there this evening to capture some colors/clouds at dusk. It turned out pretty good.

I should try using my zoom lens more often.

Photo 365: Day 151 – Hardware/Memory

Day 151: 3/3

That’s an old memory module from my desktop computer. I found this had an interesting pattern on the printed circuit board. Took a quick snapshot using my micro 60mm Nikkor  lens.

Photo 365: Day 117 – Chipped paint

The Sun was out this noon after few days of rain.

Spent some time this evening in the backyard and I noticed that the paint that my father had applied to the porch rails have all gone after 3years. This reveals the grains in the wood wood knot which has quite an interesting pattern and resembles eyed peacock feather.

Photo 365: Day 89 – Kalanchoe (Bonus picture)

Bought this Kalanchoe plant last weekend to bring in some colors/life indoors 😉

Photo 365: Day 89 – Daniel Boone Bridge

Had to take our daughter to her music class this evening. On our way back home, my wife took this picture  as we were riding the Daniel Boone Bridge in Chesterfield. As I had set my camera mounted with manual Nikkor f/2.8 lens set to f/2.8, the frame at the closest end turned out rather soft – albeit it turned out pretty good 😉

Photo 365: Day 68 – I like Panda; Give me Panda!

Recently purchased soft Panda licorice from Trader Joes. Unlike the mainstream Twizzler, these are soft, made of real licorice root juice and sweetened using molasses (yay no HFCS). Anyway – the very first time my 2 year old boy tried, it was rejected immediately without further consumption. Surly it’s an acquired taste and I don’t blame him.

Then past Sunday, he was standing by the pantry, pointing at the licorice box and was wanting to have some – he sure does have a sweet tooth (I guess it’s in the gene). Few minutes later, he comes back and tells me – “I like Panda. Give me Panda!”. May be I should send him over to China 🙂
