Photo 365: Day 137 – Got Tempeh?

Tempeh? – it’s fermented soybean.

Last week I had a chance to meet one of my former colleague on my train ride home back from work. He happens to be a vegan and we were talking about Tofu and ended up him mentioning tempeh. It happens to be high in protein, fiber, and vitamins. So we bought a couple of packs of 3-grain tempeh from Trader Joe’s during our grocery shopping on Saturday.

It has a nutty, chewy texture and we tried it with stir fried vegetables this evening. It was delicious and will definitely be part of our diet moving forward.

So this evening, I tried shooting this (I’m always challenged with food photography). I was able to capture the details but I think I failed in plating this – lots of white space. Will have to keep trying with food photography in the days to come 🙂

I think it looks great! I think it’s a bit brighter than it needs to be (the rice in the lower right is blown out a bit and the gloss on the food is a little to bright), but you did a fine job on this one. You can always crop in a little closer to cut out some of that white, but I don’t think it’s necessary with this. Nice work!

Oh – in answer to your question on my blog – I used an Adobe Camera Raw preset from Coffeeshop to do the conversion on the church photo. It is linked on my blog on the words “mocha latte.”

I agree with Elli. It is a little too bright, and maybe crop a little tighter. It’s always better to crop than not have enough. Otherwise, it looks delicious.

    And the picture is great.
Maybe as said before, the right side is a bit “empty”

what kind of light did you use for that?
    what WATT does it has?
