Photo 365: Day 158 – Split
Fun photo post for day 158.
That’s the picture of our living room and entry room separated by a wall. I might have gotten this idea for this post over the weekend or so. Upon trying to execute this, this evening I found it a bit harder than I had imagined.
Now these are 2 different rooms one lit by the windows facing south and the other room has light coming in from windows on the North. So properly exposing this a bit of challenge – went all manual for this shot after trial and error with the lighting. Now composing this was another challenge by itself – as I had shot this from the entry way and had the camera mounted on the tripod, there wasn’t much room for me to stand behind the camera. So had it manually focused on the wall and shot this at f/10 at 5sec exposure.
Now only if I had a fish eye lens, to make this a nice shot 😉
Not bad. I like your idea. Pretty creative.
Fisheye or a wide angle would work beautifully. First of all I must say that you did a great job with this image. That must have been hard to find the right whitebalance color. Second of all, nice looking home and finally, I really like the images you have decorating your one room of your child. Nice touch.
I think you’re doing really well by nailing all of the technicalities. It must have been difficult to shoot. If you really wanted to you could probably stitch a few shot together to get a ultra wide angle view and then fake the fish-eye in PS. 🙂 Nice work Sasi!
This is a great learning tool. I can see why the white balance would be hard, but you did a nice job!
When I took interior shots, I would have the same problem. The two easiest ways to do it would be to take two shots and stitch them together. That way you could adjust the wb for each one to match the other. The other way is to accentuate the difference and make it look intentional. Then title it to make it obvious. Nice efforts though.
You did a great with the two rooms. Definitely a challenging shot!
I like this idea, a super wide angle or fish eye would have been a totally different type of shot again.
Nice job. Another creative idea that was also a great learning tool.
Interesting… I really like seeing your creative thinking through your photos. As for the fisheye effect… I have a Nikon D90 and in the retouch menu, there is a function for applying the fisheye effect. Maybe your D70 might have this function too?
No such filter effect in D70. Further D70 is real primitive – I got mine 6+ years ago, may be one of these days I will upgrade mine 😉
