Photo 365: Day 185 – Daily Shoot: July 4th
Today’s Daily Shoot Assignment: It’s Independence Day in the U.S (fireworks!). Make a photo with celebration as the theme, wherever you are.
When I think of July 4th, what comes to my mind is fireworks. Though I enjoyed watching fireworks this evening, I had my shot done this AM in my garage 😉
Here is how I did this for those interested – had the sparkler stuck on a flower pot filled with dirt. I had this done with my garage door closed to shoot this in complete darkness. I used 150mm Sigma lens for this shoot and had my camera turned to manual mode @f/11 for 1/3sec exposure. Before lighting the sparklers, I pre-focused on the sparkler. Then lit the sparklers and fired off the camera using a remote. Originally I tried with 1sec exposure but I felt it was a bit overexposed, hence shot it with 1/3 sec exposure.
This is my first fireworks shoot and I am satisfied with this shot.
Nice work! I’m impressed that you did this in your garage! I never thought of doing that! This came out great!
Well, I guess that’s one way to do it. =] Glad you had a nice holiday.
Perfect and great details.
Nice execution of your image.
Nice job Sasi. I also took some last night for the first time. I went with the more traditional bulb exposure though. The technique worked but there was this big tree blocking much of it so I did not post any. Now that I know how to do it though, I’ll be better positioned next time around. Again, good job.
Great result, very detailed.
this is a fantastic, crisl photograph. I love that you can see the branching at the end of the sparks.
great idea! wonderful photo!
This is fantastic! Thanks for explaining how you did it.
very cool shot
Very nice. I love the way you thought about how to do this.
