Landmark
Had a chance to visit St. Louis downtown last evening and shot the Gateway Arch from the front of Busch Stadium. It was a quick run to the city and what all I had was my Fuji F30 P&S. May be next time I’ll have to lug my Nikon D70 😉
For folks not familiar with St. Louis area, St. Louis is a baseball city and we love St. Louis Cardinals. Here you see some of St. Louis Cardinals’ Hall of Fame statues and at the far end you can the 630 feet Gateway Arch monument.
You captured so much in such a small space. The Arch ties in nicely with the scene. I think the black and white look is good for this one.
Gotta love those p&s cameras, they come in handy!
A very interesting composition, it could easily have come out busy or cluttered, but you seem to have struck it just right so it is pleasing. The shadow in the lower left of the foreground statue is a minor distraction though.
I like the idea of getting such a famous landmark in a photo, in a way where it isn’t the primary focus but rather shows it in the context of other things in the city. It makes it a lot more tangible, I think!
I also think the black and white works well for this photo! I love baseball and would love to see this in person someday!
Nice shot …
I love the contrast
The shadow in the floor seems a little distracting
I love how you caught the gallery of statues here with its shadows.
Great job, the arch sure adds to the image. The crane on the building is the thing that’s distracting to me. 🙂
perfect point of view, wonderful linear perspective
Great angle and great view. I like the way you set this up and allowing everything in focus was a great choice for this type of “city scape” shot. I like it!
Nice composition, I like the inclusion of the statues and the arch. As Nik said, for a scene that could have looked cluttered, you managed to simplify it!
