Still life

It’s been quite some time now, since the last time I did still life photography.

As I was looking for subject(s) for my shot, what got my attention was these little clementines. They are sweet and interesting photographic subject as well.

Shot this with window lighting using my 60mm macro lens.

Faded glory

Shot this remnants of Aster in our front yard couple of days ago…a symbol of faded glory but still beautiful.

On a rainy day…

This shot should depict the weather here in St. Louis today.

I was a bit surprised to see snow when I woke up this morning. As the day progressed rain turned into sleet and rain…

So what do you do when it rains and have some time to kill…go out with your camera and look for photo ops 😉

Have a great weekend folks!

Kids at play

Shot this couple of days ago when my kids were enjoying the warm weather outside.

Makes me wonder where did the warm weather go..today’s weather in the 30’s feels like we are heading right back to winter again 😉

Portrait

I was pleasantly surprised when my daughter obliged to my request for a quick pose 😉

I have already blogged in the past that she is not good at posing for a shot…either she shies away or makes a silly smile, which just sounds like me. I tell folks that I take pictures to hide behind the camera 😉

Anyway, shot this using my macro lens as that’s what I had in my camera and didn’t want to lose the moment.

Colors of Spring

Spotted this almost dead looking twig and new growth…call it wonders of spring.

Welcome Spring!

We are doing a home renovation project and I tried staying away from blogging. With daffodils in full bloom, I couldn’t resist from taking few pictures this evening…having said/done that, I am back to blogging 😉

Now I need to catch up on my fellow photo bloggers photo posts.

Welcome Spring!

Shrimp ‘n dry gravy

It’s Sunday and had some spare time for a foodie shot.

I struggled a bit to come up with this composition. Originally tried these piled atop a rice and didn’t like that composition.

Then thought I should build a shrimp tower atop the rice bed..that didn’t work either. So went for this arrangement with the shrimp tower resting on a plate. Used some sliced English Cucumber in this composition to bring in colors and contrast the vertical shrimp tower.

I am  quite pleased with this outcome and yes this was delicious 🙂

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

It’s Sunday and it’s time for a foodie shot 😉

Found a recipe for banana bread and tweaked it slightly to make it into a “fortified” banana bread – replaced about a 1/3 cup of flour with flax meal, wheat germ, and oat bran. The best part – the kids didn’t find it and they seemed to like it.

It took me quite a while to come up with this shot. A bread is a bread and I found it hard to come up with an interesting composition. Then I struggled with using the available lighting for this foodie shot.

Finally thought I should arrange it in such a way to reveal the texture. Then I had this shot with full sunlight to show the texture.

Sliced

It’s one of those days that we photog encounter very often…got something up in the mind but when you try putting these together (or execute), you don’t like the way things turn out or at least you know it won’t work.

I had a foodie related shot in mind but it didn’t work out this morning. So I ended up doing a macro shot of sliced strawberry. Since I have already shot strawberry (day: 291, day: 39) for my 365 project, had to go for a different way of plating these for this shot.
