Photo 365: Day 183 – Daily Shoot: Water

Today’ daily shoot challenge: Refresh from the summer heat today. Make a photo of water in motion. Freeze it or let it blur!

When I saw the daily shoot challenge this AM, I decided to shoot water spray from garden spray nozzle. So when I got settled in to shoot later this evening the real challenge was to hold the spray nozzle in place. With the family already on vacation, had to get a bit creative this evening.

At one point I thought may be I should tie the spray nozzle to a post. Luckily I was able to keep the nozzle steady by resting it against a flower pot.

I decided to go for the water blur challenge. Had this shot with Nikkor 60mm macro @f/36 for 1/3sec exposure. I like the way it turned out for today’s post.

Photo 365: Day 172 – Marigold

Our Marigolds have started to bloom. We have started mixed Marigolds from seeds late spring and finally we are seeing colors. These are miniature ones and are real pretty.

Photo 365: Day 171 – Texture

I had originally thought of shooting flowers from our backyard but it was too hot and muggy outside and decided to go with the texture theme for today’s post.

We have this old garden pot about 6+ year old that we had originally bought for growing Amaryllis bulbs – it has gone through harsh winter, summer, rain and starting losing it’s paint. So for today’s theme I though of shooting this pot as it has wonderful texture and some nice colors.

Had this sit in the patio steps and shot this using my favorite 60mm macro Nikkor lens.

Photo 365: Day 163 – Firecracker flower

We had rain this afternoon and it was a good break from sticky weather from this AM. As I stepped outside this evening saw these bloom of Firecraker  on our porch and shot this with macro lens.

Firecracker is a tropical plant and we had bought this from a local nursery last year. This survived the winter weather here in St. Louis – had this in the basement lit be CFL bulb.

Photo 365: Day 159 – It’s about time

That’s one of our Hydrangea that decided to bloom after 4 years 😯

We got these 3 hydrangeas about 4+ years ago from Lowes & Sears (with blooms) as a small plants. The first year after planting it didn’t bloom. I remember calling the local college extension center and they said me about moving these plants to a sunny spot. So we did and didn’t had any luck for the past years. But it decided to bloom this year.

This kind of of reminds me of the quote from the Forest Gump movie…I’m pretty tired… I think I’ll go home now.

I bet if these hydrangeas were to talk they’ll mutter…

I’m pretty tired…I think I’ll boom now 😉

Don’t forget to add your photo to Twitter Tuesday.

Photo 365: Day 156: Dew on cobweb

While cleaning up my yard this morning I noticed these dew on cobweb. Shooting this turned out to be a bit of a challenge as this was atop mowed grass and was almost close to the ground. So I used my gorillapod to balance my camera and shot this in shutter priority.

Photo 365: Day 154 – Trio Cherries

For today’s post I simply want to shoot cherries. So had these trio cherries sit a white foam board board, used spot metering and took the metering of the cherry in the front. Then had it manually adjusted and shot this in RAW. I had to do a little ‘pop’ action in CS4 to bring out the colors.

Photo 365: Day 151 – Hardware/Hard-drive

Day 151: 2/3

That’s an old IDE hardrive that I had bought for an old desktop PC. This hard-drive never got into the bay 😉

I found this interesting pattern on the hardrive’s back – I am not a hardware design engineer but I am guessing it has something to do with dissipating the heat(?)

There is 1 more picture for day 151 – here.

Day 151: 3/3

That’s an old memory module from my desktop computer. I found this had an interesting pattern on the printed circuit board. Took a quick snapshot using my micro 60mm Nikkor  lens.
