Photo 365: Day 223 – TDS:Wide focal length

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph using wide focal length. Zoom or prime or iPhone cameras all qualify for going wide today.

Decided to use Sigma 17-70mm at it’s wide end for this assignment.

To make this assignment shot interesting/fun used my little boy’s happy meal toy as the subject. It’s another backyard shot with low POV – I picked that technique from an earlier TDS assignment.

Photo 365: 219 – TDS: Triangle

Todays daily shoot assignment: Triangles keep the viewer’s eyes on a photo. Follow a triangle, and you see other elements. Make a photo with triangles.

Took few shots this evening with the theme “triangle” in my mind but I didn’t like none of those shots – it’s one of those days when I lacked any inspiration. I will have to blame it on the hot weather 😉

This is snapshot I took from my visit to the park couple of days ago. Nothing artistic in this shot, but posting this as it fits TDS “triangle” assignment.

Watch close and you’ll see more than three triangles.

Photo 365: Day 217 – TDS: Park (1)

Todays daily shoot assignment: Visit a park today–national, amusement, playground–and make a photo of something that catches your eye.

I am back online 😉

I had lost my internet connection since yesterday morning and finally got it resolved this noon. So I am catching up on my blog post. I have to admit, I kind of liked it without internet connection – didn’t have to check my emails, catchup on news and such. I was able to accomplish quite a bit of things with no internet connection.

May be once in a while I should pretend I have lost my internet connection to catchup on other things..LOL

Some pictures from my visit to park near home yesterday. There are 2 more pictures for day:217.

Bonus picture for day:217 from visit to the park.

Photo 365: Day 211 – TDS: Pavement

Todays daily shoot assignment: Pavement comes in many flavors. Asphalt. Concrete. Bricks. Stones. Make a photo of some pavement you see today.

I think this was a tricky one (for me). Pavement is not my subject and I thought may be I should try capturing texture on the concrete pavement. My first attempt was to capture some hosta greens towards the left along with the texture. But I felt there is something missing towards the right.

So had my car parked in that spot and had this shot. I guess it’s all about boundaries in landscape photography.

Had this shot with Sigma 17-70mm zoom lens @f/2.8 at it’s wide end.

Applied the low angle technique that I learned from earlier TDS assignment for this shot.

Photo 365: Day 210 – TDS: Light Source

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Turn the tables and make a photograph of a light source today. Light bulb, window, or even the sun (be careful!).

So decided to shoot Mr. Sun this evening as he’s my main source of light for photography 😉

Had this shot from behind one of our hydrangea bushes in our backyard. Used circular polarizer filter to make the sky look a bit cooler. The Sun was so bright that at one point I thought I was going to go blind.

Used Sigma zoom lens for this shot. Used manual mode and shot this @f/14 for 1/400 sec exposure – although the camera metering system(in spot meter mode) suggested I should shoot this at 1/2000 sec. I bet it was confused with flood of Sun light…

Photo 365: Day 208 – TDS – Six

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Today’s theme is the number 6. Make a photograph of the number six, six objects, or express six in an alternate way.

As I was driving to work this morning I was thinking about TDS assignment and for some reason the movie The Sixth Sense came to my mind. So when I got back from work I checked to see if the movie is available on Netflix’s instant watch and sure it was. So had this queued to my instant watch list for this shot.

Had to be a bit creative with shooting the image on TV, as focusing straight at the monitor produced unwanted lines – so tried shooting it a bit out of focus and also at an angle. I like the second approach as I like the angles and geometrical shapes in this shot.

Shot this using Sigma 17-70mm at it’s wide end @f/11 for 1sec exposure.

Today is Twitter Tuesday.

Photo 365: Day 204 – TDS – Craft

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Double your art today. Make a photo of something you’ve created or crafted.

This was a tough one as I am not an artist. The closest art I have drawn is a smiley face 🙂

So I looked up Google on “how to draw a car” – and drew a car based on the instructions that I had found. Then had it stuck in front of my monitor which had the picture I had shot from our vacation to tea plantation in Munnar (India) back in 2005. I want to get the feel that the car is there on the mountainous road.

So its double art – photo+picture art 😉

Photo 365: Day 203 – TDS: Off-angle

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Rotate your camera today a bit and make a slightly off-angle photograph. Use the angle to emphasize your subject.

Time to experiment with gnome 😉

I think garden gnome is a great subject for photography. He is cute and has lot of characters. I had fun shooting him this evening.
