Photo 365: Day 236 – TDS: Soft light

Todays daily shoot assignment: Make a photograph with soft light today. Try to almost totally eliminate shadows on your subject.

I had some vacation time to burn and took couple of days-off from work – hence the early post for my 365 project.

It’s been quite some time now since I last posted a food themed photo shot. Further I cooked yellow curry tofu with home grown hot peppers for lunch. Hence decided to combine TDS: soft light assignment with food theme  for todays shoot.

To bring a “soft” effect, used soft-focus filter – I think I bought this filter about 8+ years ago on ebay and have used it few times now in my 365 project. Had this shot with 50mm @f/1.8 using natural window lighting.

    O.M.G. I love it.

It could perfectly fit into a magazine as a reclam for food.

It looks also like a dream. Mostly in ilms they present it a bit in the same way.

Very nice shot! Love the set up. The only thing I would say is that the tofu squares look too placed. Usually you want to keep food off the rim so you get a more clean look and your eyes doesn’t get so distracted by the floating pieces. 🙂

Great job Sasi, I think you did a fine job on today’s assignment! I have to say that I love your posts on the food you prepare, always makes me hungry (especially since it’s hard to find good curry around here).

I don’t think soft focus and soft light are the same thing but I like the shot. It has a very pleasant feel to it. Sit says “delicious”.
