Photo 365: Day 262 – TDS: Mirror

Today’s daily shoot assignment: Use a mirror as part of a composition in a photograph today. Show yourself in the image if you’d like!

Had a chance to take my little boy to Faust Park this evening while my wife took my daughter for her singing lesson this evening.

As we were driving around the park, I saw another photog taking pictures of ducks in the near by pond and shot this looking through the rear view mirror.

I really like the way it turned out.

Also there is a bonus shot for TDS: Mirror assignment –> here.

There is a lot of interest in this photo; the differing textures of the image shown in the mirror and the view through the windscreen; the curving lines moving through the image and the self referential photographer in the scene impliedly “mirroring” you.

I have to say though, from a strictly visual perspective, I prefer the bonus shot.

I love the winding road and how the black edge of the mirror fades the image within the mirror, almost a burned in (or out I suppose) effect. There’s just something about taking a photograph of another photog that seems…magical if you will!

It’s a toss up for me which I like better, both have great qualitiesi!

    Excellent shot Sasi,

Using the mirror in this but also the bonus picture shows that you have an excellent eye for composition.

The panoramic view of the mirror the photographer on the right the curves on the left just come all together to create a very interesting and unusual shot

    Well done

I love this one…the curving lines of the road juxtaposed with the straight horizontal lines created by the mirror…very nice.
