Photo 365: Day 151 – Hardware/Memory

Day 151: 3/3

That’s an old memory module from my desktop computer. I found this had an interesting pattern on the printed circuit board. Took a quick snapshot using my micro 60mm Nikkor  lens.

Photo 365: Day 150 – POVs

Today I decided to shoot a moonbeam flower about to bloom with 2 different point of view(s) aka POV.

Here is one that looks almost flat – looking from the top call this as aerial view. Not much interesting, isn’t it?

Try next one – same flower with a different POV.

Does that look better? – not as “flat” as the earlier one. Just by changing the angle, you can make things/subjects look interesting 😉

Photo 365: Day 149 – Green serpent?

No it’s not a green serpent 😉

It’s a harmless garlic scape in my back yard. I was planting some annuals and cleaning up my yard this morning and found these garlic scape(s). Will have to try these garlic scape in stir fry tomorrow 🙂

Photo 365: Day 148 – Mirror Image

It’s Friday and I had sometime to burn this evening. So spent my free time on this little experiment with mirror and $1 coin.

I had this one dollar coin and had this stand atop a hand mirror in such a way I could see the reflection of the coin. Now since the mirror was looking up the ceiling, it was boring plain white – so I had the camera (on a timer) set on a tripod and was holding a blue cardboard right above the mirror/coin setup. With this setup when the camera shutter clicked I was able to capture the mirror image of the coin with the blue background – it kind of gives the feel that the coin sits atop a blue mirror, doesn’t it?

Used spot metering and shot this @f/45.0 and 6sec exposure to bring in the details.

Photo 365: Day 144 – Flow

I had sometime to burn this evening and did some experimenting with lighting. I want to simulate the effect of smooth waterfall flow and used poppy seed (which we use for cooking) in place of water.

Initially had the camera set on manual mode for 0.5sec exposure. Then the camera was mounted on a tripod and had the timer set to click at 10secs – during that time I had the spoon filled with poppy seed and started dropping the poppy seed slowly into the pot. When the camera snapped it produced this smooth water flow effect. Those poppy seeds which got scattered produced a nice bokeh.

Photo 365: Day 139 – Sewing Mechanism

We have this old sewing machine that’s about 7+ years old. We were cleaning up the closet and the sewing machine mechanism caught my eyes. The moment I saw it, I knew I want to do a macro shot of the needle plate, foot and transporter of our sewing machine.

Used natural window lighting to shoot this at f/16 for 1/2s exposure.

Photo 365: Day 138 – Houston we have a problem!

Houston we have a problem – that’s what came to my mind when I saw my little kiddo watching his favorite TV program Cailou on You Tube. He was sitting so close to the monitor and watching with his eyes wide open like he was waiting for an event to happen…
