Icicles

We had winter storm for the past couple of days and it wasn’t as bad as the weatherman had predicted.

On Monday it was ice storm then late in the evening it was followed by snow. By the time the storm had passed through this AM, we had about 6″ of snow atop ice – weatherman predicted it will be somewhere between a foot to 20″ of snow. Sorry for the weatherman and I don’t really envy their job 😉

Anyway, I stepped outside few minutes this afternoon and took few shots of icicles.

Above is shot of icicles hanging from recycle cart. I really like the way this turned out.

Quinoa retake

I told you it’s coming 😉

So redid my shot on Quinoa this evening and I’m quite satisfied with the outcome.

Quinoa

Picked a box of Quinoa on our ritual trip to Trader Joe’s last evening 😉

I was drawn by the multitude of colors and texture in this grain and decided to go with it as a subject for today’s post.

Overall, I am not pleased with this composition. I think it came out flat – had it been about a year ago I might have been pleased with this post. I may have to come back and try redoing this subject with a different composition in the next few days.

Clutter?

That’s a macro shot of exposed roots on our Arabian Jasmine plant. I like the cluttery feel in this shot.

I did find it interesting to see new shoots coming up from the exposed root system.

Simplicity

How are you keeping up on your new year’s resolution?

I think I am going to jot mine down in a paper and perhaps stick it to my camera – out of sight, out of mind, right?

Simplicity – that’s what I had in mind when I did this shot.

Blah…coupon booklet

Hey it’s Friday!

Have a great weekend folks…

Just eat it

Fun post 😉

Veggies good for you…Just eat it !! – may be not the red hot raw chili 😉

My original thought was to shoot frozen french cut  green beans but later decided to add dried red chili to add contrast to this composition.

A Very Berry Day

With blackberries and wild blueberries in our kitchen went for this very berry shot.

To bring in a bit more variety to this shot added a cup of strawberry kefir to this composition. Other things I was particular about were the circular shapes and odd numbers 😉

Snack time

It’s been quite some time since I did a foodie photo post. With that in mind shot these crackers, pears, and fruit loops during snack time this evening.

Not that I feed on fruit loops, had these included in this composition to compliment the horizontally arranged crackers.

Bliss

Bliss – that sums up my feelings at the end of this 365 project.

When I started my 365 project, my intention was to get back into taking pictures as I have gotten busy with other things in life. So I am immensely satisifed on finishing up this project.

There are a few things I was able to accomplish via this project

  • got to learn more about my 6yr old Nikon D70 – both the areas on where it shines and its limiations.
  • improved my overall composition
  • established a workflow
  • started shooting in full manual mode
  • got in touch with photography friends via my photo blog and Facebook
  • get to see other photogs work and this again helped improve my photography skills

Things I wish I had learned via this project

  • Post processing – I figured I’m not a huge fan of post processing. I would rather spend much of the time fixing my composition and exposure rather than spending time in front of the computer in post procesing work
  • flash photography – this is a big area I want to explore

I want to thank all my photo blog viewers for taking time to spend some time viewing and taking time to comment on my blog posts. Your comments are real supportive. I think comments plays a vital role in blog community. Though it could be few words, it makes a big difference at the end of the day.

It gave me the feel that I have a target audience and that’s what made me keep shooting.  So your comments are much appreciated.

Wishing you all a Blissful Happy New Year!
