Photo 365: Day 220 – TDS: Green

Todays daily shoot assignment: Today’s color is green. Make a photo of a green subject today and post it.

Well it’s not a green subject. But it’s green energy for sure 😉

As I was driving to Chicago this afternoon to pick up family who are returning back from their vacation tomorrow, I shot this wind farm close to Pontiac, IL.

I have to admit, I shot this from a moving car – but would never try that again. Since I’m travelling light, shot this in JPEG mode and later edited in online Picnik website to bring out the colors.

Photo 365: Day 182 – Daily Shoot: Construction

Today’ daily shoot challenge: Construction seems to be perpetual: streets, sidewalks, buildings. Make a photo of something under construction today.

Construction – that sounds easy, right? That’s what I thought so too.

Took my P&S camera during my afternoon walk at work and took couple of shots of building constructions – I wasn’t quite pleased at the outcome. So on my way from work took a detour and visited this tiny two way road close to home which has been closed for re-pavement. It was quite sunny and had revisit later this evening to shoot for today’s challenge.

I should have taken my polarizing filter – the sky looked flat. So had to use couple of PS actions to bring out the subject.

I am starting to like this Daily Shoot challenge – keeps me stay focused.

Photo 365: Day 174 – Feeling toasty

Another hot day here in St. Louis. Temperature was in upper 90 F and the heat index was 105 F

Got back from work and didn’t wan’t to go out again for a photo shoot. Just stayed home and shot this, that depicts the weather today in St. Louis. A bit of rain could help 😉

Photo 365: Day 173 – About time to get fit

Yep it’s about time to hit that weight bench 😉

This photo 365 project has really kept me busy this year and my priorities have definitely changed with this project – my time back from work these days are spent on photo project.  Couple of days ago there was blog post on tasramar.com titled SPRINT TO THE FINISH and the goal is to get fit again.

My goal is just as simple as exercise 6 days/week and get to bed in a reasonable time.

As I was on my workout session this evening I decided to shoot my weight bench for today’s photo post 😉

Today is Twitter Tuesday and don’t forget to checkout out other 365 photogs.

Photo 365: Day 169 – Time

Lately I have been spending too much time on my Photo 365 project and I thought with this post I should remind myself of how Time is very important.

When I started this project, I’ll take about 15-30 minutes to come up with the idea, execute that idea, and be done. But that seems to have gone three fold now 😉

It’s just that I like the my photos to be perfect and I think I want every post to be a master-piece which I know is impossbile. Coincidentally there was a post @TasraMar by Terri Bleeker (another Photo 365 blogger whom I follow) and there was this quote that really made me think

Remember you don’t have to be the best. You just have to be better than you were last week…

So simple but very powerful quote. So I am going to challenge myself to spend only 30 minutes and not to worry about the post to be the best. So how much time do you spend on your photo 365 project per day?

Photo 365: Day 153 – Layers

No it’s not Photoshop layers that we all photographers know…LOL

My daughter has this Melissa & Doug easel and it has a spindle where the paper rolls sits. I think it might have been quite some time now since she has last used the paper for drawing and the paper roll has started curling.

As I noticed the paper curl last week, I thought it could be shot for an interesting abstract photo post.

So this evening I had to get underneath the easel to take this shot. As it was relatively darker beneath the easel, I had to bump up the ISO to 800 – hence the grain….here’s where D70 fails 🙁

But I am quite satisfied with today’s photo post.

Photo 365: Day 152 – Soft focus

For today’s photo post(s) I used a soft focus filter to create a dream-like effect on these cherries. As it was too bright and I didn’t have a neutral density filter to bring down the light, used a polarizer filer – as I know it brings down the light by 2 f:stops. Had to use a white reflector board to lighten up the shadows.

There is one more photo post for day 152 –> here.

Don’t forget to add your photo post to Twitter Tuesday.

Photo 365: Day 152 – Soft focus

I got the idea for this post from a cover image on Cooks Illustrated magazine. Used a soft focus filter combined with polarizer filter to create this shot.

Photo 365: Day 147 – Simplicity

Not much inspiration for today’s post.

Got really tired after workout this evening and as I was fixing my fried eggs had this idea popped in my head to shoot fried eggs. I am not a big fan of half-cooked fried eggs but had it that way for the shoot – as I want the yolks to have the shiny look.

It was a bit harder than I thought  as the camera got fooled by whites on the egg white and black on the cast iron pan. So had this shot using spot metering (took the meter reading from one of the yolk) and used the white reflectors to eliminate shadows.

Now only if these eggs could smile…to make this a smiley face 🙂

Photo 365: Day 145 – Run, run, as fast as you can;

Sort of self-portrait 😉

Another experimentation with lighting, and speed. As I was treadmill running this evening I got this idea to capture the run.

It was more harder than I thought. Setting the focus was the easy part – as I know where I will have my foot, I just pre-focused on that area on the treadmill. Then had the camera mounted on the tripod with the right exposure/speed setting and had it triggered using remote and self-timer. Then I experimented with varying my speed on the treadmill. Of all the shots I liked the one shot at f/1.8 and /15sec speed and that happens to be my first shot of this experiment.
