Bakery

It was quite an interesting evening. My original plan was to go to a park near home for a quick shot, but found out the park being closed this evening.

So went to a bakery nearby for a coffee. Here is where things got interesting.

I found a gentleman in the store with a Nikon D3000 as I was enjoying my coffee. As I came out and started taking pictures of the bakery, I saw him come out and wanting to know what I was doing there. I ended up talking to him briefly and we were talking about camera models. Then I told him about the sensor dust issue on my D70. Turns out there is reputed store in town that does a good job with sensor cleaning.

Will have to try taking my camera to this store sometime next week. That being said, I am going to hang on to my D70. Had this happened prior to recession, I would have had a totally different opinion or take on this 😉

Regarding this shot, I like the way this turned out. My thought was to capture the mood in the bakery as seen through the windows and I think I did OK.

Snack time

It’s been quite some time since I did a foodie photo post. With that in mind shot these crackers, pears, and fruit loops during snack time this evening.

Not that I feed on fruit loops, had these included in this composition to compliment the horizontally arranged crackers.

Sensor Dust

Not a pretty picture for today’s photo post.

Finally decided to checkout how bad the dust have accumulated on my trusty 6+ year Nikon D70 sensor. I’ve already blogged about dust on my sensor in one of my earlier post.

But I was really surprised to see how bad the sensor is marred.

Already tried blowing off dust using a rocket-air blower with limited or no success. Next is to try sensorswipe.

Perhaps it’s time to replace my D70 😉

Wish me luck!

Snow Day

It’s a snow day here in St. Louis area. Although there wasn’t much overnight snow accumulation, driving to work early in the morning was a bit tricky and kids got to stay home.

Got home this evening and shot this snow on the pine tree. Not the exact kind of shot I was going for, but I like the way this turned out 😉

Chain Link

Shot this back in October while visiting a park close-by home.

Photo walk: Awnings

Another shot from my last week trip to Chicago..

I was really drawn by these awnings (which looks almost endless) and reflection  on the glasses outside Congress Plaza Hotel on Michigan Ave.

Shot in the dark

One of my favorite shots from my trip to Chicago. Shot these pattern on garage doors while we stayed at my friend’s house in Chicago.

This is the pattern on the garage doors as seen from inside the garage. Also you are seeing a bit of pattern reflected on the glasses.

Street photography: What’s on the menu?

Another take on street photography while I was up in Chicago last week.

Shot of folks checking out the menu posted outside Miller’s Pub on Wabash Ave in downtown Chicago.

Street Photography: Colors

Another shot from my Chicago trip last week.

I was drawn by the splash of colors as I was walking down on Wabash Ave – there is white from the snow on the ground, terracotta on the building on the left, green on the delivery truck, and red on the coat worn by the pedestrian and the delivery guy.

Although I have to admit, these won’t come any close to those as spotted & shot by Nikhil 😉
