Chicken drumstick curry
Another foodie shot…
There is something about food that I like to capture…may be it’s such a docile subject which doesn’t cringe or frown 😉
I was thinking about it on this line last week. My wife is a good cook and there is always something cooking, so how about I shoot her food for my blog. It makes me happy that I got a shot for the day and should make her happy that her food made it to the blog (besides feeding us).
It’s a win win situation, right?
Anyway, shot this using window lighting and used a foam board with aluminum foil stuck on it to direct the light on hard spots.
One of these days I need to pony up enough cash to buy continuous lighting, so that I am not totally relying on free window lighting. Nothing wrong with natural window lighting (that I always like), it’s just that I don’t have to make my shoot before Mr. Sun goes down.
According to the foodies on WordPress, if we’re shooting food, we should be using natural light so good job. Lighting looks just right. I can only aspire to natural lighting here. I also crave better artificial lights. Someday…
Fantastic food shot! I love curry and this looks fantastic.
WOW, this looks so good, it gets me hungry. Nice shot in natural light. I agree about the lighting, I’d like to have some artificial lights too. I just took a lighting class and once the second class is over I should have an idea on what to get. (when I get the money). 😉
Yum! What time is dinner? 🙂
Sasi, an excellent shot of an artfully arranged plate.
That looks very tasty and appetizing.
Natural light and artificial light are two completely different kettles of fish (trying to keep with the food theme here :)). I believe that you have mastered natural light. It will be a good experience to try with artificial light and I suspect the learning experience will be an interesting one to write about. I know finances are tight all around but a friend recently bought a kit on Amazon for under $100 (I’ll email you a link) and it seems pretty good for what it is.
Nice chicken curry. I subscribed to your photos and you’re my motivation, energy to start my day’s work because of your patience to shoot a picture and email it. Best of luck!!
Very nice Sasi, I haven’t had a good curry in…forever! I am certain it was excellent. 😀 The natural lighting is excellent Sasi and, you have to love foam boards!! 😀
Great shot Sasi! I haven’t had curry in ages, now I’ve got a craving!
Well, I think your best work are your food photos so I’m glad you also enjoy doing it! This is exactly the sort of thing I look to see on a food blog/in a magazine — genuinely makes me want to eat the food pictured.
Delicious looking! Great job. I believe natural light is best for food anyway.
looks to be delicious!!!!!!
Dear Mr.Sasi,
Excellent photo…I am a friend of Prasanna Yoga. The curry looks very tasty..i m sure it tasted good too….The angle in which it is taken plus the natural light…enhances its beauty…Btw why dont u ask your wife to start a cooking blog with your beautiful pictures….Both the works will get noticed…As a woman i would like to know the recipe of this curry. 🙂
Sharmili, Thanks for your nice words and stopping by. My wife and I used to post recipes in my other blog (http://the8thwonder.org/recipes-2/)
But haven’t done so in a long time (lack of time). Will have to get that going in one of these days.
Sasi, thank you for stopping by my blog. Good to “meet” a fellow local photographer. Your photos are great. Very nice. This chicken curry is making me hungry. I can make a pretty mean chicken curry myself, but I don’t think it would be as good as this one by your wife.
